Lunch Delivery Position at Lunch a la Kart

 

At Lunch a la Kart, we offer continual supportive employment for mental health consumers. This position is for somebody who enjoys selling and interacting with people. The job can be physically demanding as employees must be able to walk, while pushing a cart, for up to 3 hours a day.  Training and support is provided, as well as flexible days and an industry-competitive wage. Objective:  To deliver and sell lunches to businesses of the Downtown Eastside and neighbouring areas. The food is packed into a handcart which is wheeled around to our regular customers. All selling of lunches is inside business buildings.

 

Qualifications/Skills:  You may be a good fit for this position if the following apply. You:

• Have experience in food service industry and a desire to gain further skills
• Enjoy working with people and can provide excellent customer service
• Have good time management
• Are interested in contributing to the development and growth of the business by attending monthly staff meetings
• Enjoy walking and are able to do some lifting in all types of weather

 

Duties:

• To sell lunches to regular customers
• To be on time for shifts and check in after each shift
• To maintain a positive customer service relationship with clients
• To keep track of inventory, cash
• To communicate with Lunch a la Kart coordinator any issues or suggestions regarding the business or employment

 

Job Specifics:

• P/T - 4 hours a day (10am – 2pm)
• 1-2 days per week
• Training wage is $8.00 per hour
• Starting wage is $8.50 per hour
• Applicants are required to submit a resume, attend an interview and volunteer ‘job shadow’ for 2 shifts as part of the screening process
• Training is provided as needed to make you feel competent and comfortable with the job
